36% of Small Business Owners Say the Hardest Part of Starting Was Taking a “Leap of Faith”

This UPS Store survey from last summer has a lot of interesting fact about small business owners. Facts that all prospective entrepreneurs should find quite encouraging!

If you’re contemplating starting your own business, remember these key facts:

  • 48% of all Americans dream of owning their own business: There’s a whole lot of people just like you thinking about taking the plunge — why let them get a head start over you and your great idea?
  • 51% of all small business owners spent more than two years dreaming and planning: That means you have a huge headstart on them if you take the plunge ASAP!
  • 31% spent more than five years dreaming and planning before they pulled the trigger: That leaves you with “maybe” 18% of all future small business owners as competition if you start this year (obviously this won’t help with existing competition, but there’s a huge untapped market just waiting for you to exploit!)

The point of this post?

I’m trying to give the 20-percent-ers out there, who’ll start their business due to encouragement from others, the motivation you need to get started.

The economy needs each and every single one of you!

Get out there and just do it!
