Old, Retired and Bored? Read This Humble Business Advice (and Rant)

I’m fed up hearing someone, aged 50, 60 and 70 years old says “I’m tired.” “I can’t compete with those youngsters.” “Youngsters don’t work as hard as us.” “I’m too old for Instagram.” “I’m too old to start a business.” “I’m not as passionate as those young ‘uns.”

Did you know the saddest statement of all that I hate so much hearing it? “There’s nothing more I can do today. I’ve lived my life and I just wait for my time (to die) come.” Just sad. Seriously. You still have the time in the world in your hand – do something, impact people, change the neighborhood, challenge yourself. Anything. Please.

I mean, there are people out there battling the super tough battle with cancer and other incurable diseases wanting a chance to live, but you are just waiting for your time to… die?

With all due respect, lame excuses are just lame excuses – whether you are 20, 30, or 90 years old. You only live once. Don’t waste your life being bitter, full of regret, and full of excuses.

I’ve just received an email via my Noobpreneur.com from a 50-year-old man who live in Kentucky. He’s bored and want to start a T-shirt business. He asked whether he should open a specialty shop or take his T-shirt with a car and sell the T-shirts around the neighborhood. I admire his passion, and you should do what this man do.

Stop making excuses. It’s time to step up your game, and if you are in your late 40’s, just retired, or simply bored, just start a business. No, it’s not too late. You have more under your belt: Experience in real world business – your competitive advantage over the 20 y.o. entrepreneurs.
