How Lighting Intensity and Spectrum Affect Your Productivity and Overall Mood

We all spend more time than we should working at the computer. Lighting your work areas and home with the right lighting is essential to health and well being.

If you take the time to watch this video, you’ll definitely be blown away by just how destructive traditional fluorescent office lighting is for your body. This presentation from scientist Leanne Venier isn’t a strictly anti-fluorescent pitch though, it talks about how (the right) colors help us: wake up, focus, relax, heal, etc.

I linked to some resources at the bottom of the page, if you don’t have the time to watch the full video.

This information is super important folks, and well worth a few minutes of your time.

I hope you watched the video and understand the whole point of biophotonics can heal, and how different spectrums of light affect our body’s circadian rhythm.

Essentially, to boost productivity, you want to:

  • Full spectrum “Incoherent” lighting during the day.
  • Red or Amber spectrum lighting before bed and if you need to wake up during the night.
  • Keep light overhead if possible.
