How NOT to Hire Lazy, Underperforming Employees that Will Give you Headaches, Guaranteed

Foolish and inexperienced, I was hiring employees by valuing highly on their work experience. There’s nothing wrong with it, but experience alone is not enough.

I should hire based on more attributes. The big question is, what attributes?

Well, you’re in luck! I’ve searched high and low, and found this video answering the question really well:

So, before you hire yet another employee, ask these questions yourself when evaluating job applications:

1. Are they smart and intelligent?
2. Are they proud of their job?
3. Do they have strong work ethic?
4. Are they ethical and honest?
5. Can they work in a team?

And when you finally need to choose one, you should trust your gut feeling. When you sense something is not right with a seemingly perfect candidate, you should reconsider your decision.

Your gut feeling or hunch is often based on your past experience, and you might avoid yourself dealing with the same character you have dealt with in the past, whether you remember him/her or not.

Got it?
