Amazon Echo: Does Alexa, your Intelligent Digital Assistant, Make You Productive (or Lazy?)

I’m not generally missing out things from the tech world, but this time, I completely out of touch: I missed the launch of Amazon Echo, and keep it under my radar for a bit too long.

My acquaintance, Martin Lindeskrog, mentioned Amazon Echo to me and I went blank. I finally checked Amazon Echo for the first time and I think Alexa, your intelligent assistant, is pretty smart – and you can train Alexa to be more helpful – just keep on asking!

It’s similar to Siri the Apple app, but it’s a different kind of virtual personal assistant: It’s geared toward smart home, and with voice response that is so Sci-fi like, it’s almost creepy.

Here’s the official commercial from Amazon Echo:

And here’s what playing around with Alexa like:

Very intuitive, and quite smart with her joke and all… which beg to raise a question: Is Alexa making you more productive or lazier?

In my opinion, what Amazon Echo does is to make your life easier – and funner. Knowledge is at your finger tip, and it’s easy to learn – and entertain – the whole family.

On the flip side, with everything can be done by voice command, you can get too lazy. Perhaps I’m a bit narrow minded, but I believe that tech advances always have side effects.

What do you think? Please share your opinion.
